Today, May 31st, 2017, is my last day of work. I've been doctoring for 39 years, 42 if you count residency (which you should, since it's the most intense doctoring you can do: longest hours, biggest challenges, steepest learning curve). We've been working on the details of our soon-to-commence world tour and now it's time to make it real. Tickets, rentals, international SIM cards, travel insurance, international ATM cards, and on and on.
A goodly part of this blog will be describing what we've learned during this process, and what we learn going forward, knowledge I hope will be useful to other families wanting to travel afar. We have learned much from other blogs and articles on-line and when we can, we'll link to those sources, or at least give them credit.
Right now, I want to give credit to my wife, who has jumped into this with enthusiasm, tempered with practicality. And to my three sons, who after some misgivings now look forward to what I promise them will be the biggest adventure of their life, so far.
